Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach responds to an Indonesian pageant fan who attempted to defame her, after calling Pia “MISS COPYCAT.” The fan compared the Filipina beauty queen's winning blue gown to American singer-actress Keke Palmer’s for a Hollywood awards night in 2014.
Pia’s Miss Universe 2015 evening gown, crafted by the Filipino fashion designer Albert Andrada, bore great similarities to Keke’s blue serpentina gown designed by the Russian couturier Rubin Singer for the 2014 Emmy Awards.
The Indonesian pageant fan posted on Instagram a side-by-side photo collage of Pia and Keke. In the photo, a text was placed which reads, “TO [sic] MUCH INSPIRASON KAK [HEART EMOJI]” and translates to, “too much inspiration, sis” in English.
This was coupled with the caption, “MISS COPYCAT @piawurtzbach” followed by several thumbs down emojis.
The said post came within Pia's radar but the Filipino-German beauty queen remained unbothered. Instead, she replied with a classy yet subtle response: a simple wink emoji—indicating her not being insulted after being called a copycat—and some very telling hashtags. “#WINNER #PHILIPPINES #POWERHOUSE,” Pia wrote.
It seems that Pia wants to remind her Indonesian basher that she, a Filipina, still won the most prestigious international beauty pageant. Some netizens applauded and laughed after Pia’s classy comment. And there were some who advised Pia to disregard hate remarks from her critics, while other Indonesians apologized on behalf of their fellowman.
On the other hand, others called out the Indonesian pageant fan for the untoward post despite the huge support Pia has shown the Indonesians.
After the incident, the Indonesian pageant fan put the Instagram account to private. Still, supporters of Pia were able to screenshot the post including the comments which spread on social media
