Two years since being crowned Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach has done and gone through a lot. With endorsements, commercials and magazine covers here and there, she has shown different facets of herself, highlighting her dynamic personality. All these seem to have helped her figure out what's next after her stint as a beauty queen.
While she's not a newbie in the local industry, Pia shares with Preview, "I feel like I’m starting over again." With a movie co-starring Vice Ganda and Daniel Padilla coming out for this year's Metro Manila Film Festival, Pia's return to the local limelight is kick-started with a leading role, a first for her career and a challenge that she welcomes. Below, we talk to Pia as she talks about her upcoming film. Read on!
What were the changes you noticed during this transition?
"That a role is a character you have to maintain for the duration of the whole shooting period. I’m more used to shooting commercials and those take only a day and we're typically smiling all throughout. Acting is definitely much more challenging."
Can you tell us about your new movie?
"It’s definitely a must-watch comedy for Christmas. It’s very family focused also. Good laughs and great lessons to be learned. Perfect for the holidays. We're rated G also so it’s suitable for the whole family!"
How do you relate to your character?
"The only similarity I have with Kweenie is that her weakness is her love for family. I’m like that, too. I can’t resist my family. I love them very much."
What’s the main difference between Beauty Queen Pia and Actress Pia?
"There’s really not much of a difference [with respect to my latest role]. I play a superhero who saves the world and that’s kind of like a job of a beauty queen. Someone who makes people happy."
