The world's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic will not be a short one. It will potentially go on for a year or two, which means now more than ever, it's crucial to extend any kind of help one can offer. From the comfort of your own home, for example, you may extend donations to organizations who are working to provide our frontliners and those in need with supplies (see a list here). However, with the urgency of the situation, we now need to plan for the long run.

The Philippine General Hospital—which is in talks to be a referral hospital for COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region—is now calling for personal protective equipment (PPE) donations for the next five months. PGH director Gerardo Legaspi has noted that the hospital is in need of donations in kind due to the difficulty of purchasing the supplies at the moment and not due to budget restraint. The PGH is also in talks to be a referral hospital for COVID-19 patients, hence more donations cannot be any more timely.

Here's a list of supplies that frontliners need:

  • 7,500 gallons of 70% ethyl alcohol
  • 46,000 pcs. fluid-resistant N95 masks with particulate filter respirator and NIOSH approval (3M8210/1860)
  • 2 million pcs. 3-ply disposable surgical face masks, earloop
  • 32,000 pcs. mask with wrap around face shield or visor, fog-free, fluid-resistant, earloop
  • 30,000 pcs. disposable gown, long-sleeved, fluid-resistant, universal size
  • 2,000 pcs. plastic disposable goggles, eyeglass type
  • 170,000 pcs. disposable shoe coves
  • 5,000 PPE kits: 1 impervious disposable gown wrap around, 1 head cap (bouffant type), 1 splash shield face mask, 1 fluid repellant shoe cover, 1 pair nitrile gloves

In kind donations of PPEs should be addressed to:

Dr. Mia Tabunar, Coordinator for Resource Generation, Philippine General Hospital, Office of the Deputy Director for Fiscal Services, Taft Avenue, Manila 1000

Telephone: 8554-8400 local 2004. Mobile: 0919-350-6917
