There’s not a single person in the K-drama fandom who hasn’t yet heard of the name Lee Sung Kyung. It seems that the 26-year-old actress, who bagged her first titular role in the hit romantic comedy series Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, is not only famous in her homeland; she’s slowly becoming a household name in the global entertainment scene, too—in fact, W Magazine just dubbed her as “South Korea's answer to Gigi Hadid.”
In an online feature published a few days ago, W Magazine made its case by comparing both of the celebrities’ number of social media followers. “In a country of some 50 million people, more than 10 percent of the country is following [Lee Sung Kyung]. That would make her proportionally right on par with Gigi Hadid’s following in America,” it says.
TBH, we can totally see the reference! Setting aside the fact that they’re both top models (Lee Sung Kyung began her career as a model in 2008), the Seoul-bred breakout star is also a certified social media sensation. Her fans clamor for her and keep track of her every move—and who can blame them? This model-turned-actress is simply adorable!
