Before Ahn Hyo Seop swept us, and Shin Ha-ri, off our feet as Kang Tae-moo, another actor first took on the role back in 2019.
Albeit briefly, Korean heartthrob Park Bo Gum was enlisted by KakaoPage to help them in promoting the now beloved show’s original webtoon.
For the uninitiated, the webtoon, which was based on a novel titled The Office Blind Date, chronicles the woes of ordinary office worker Shin Ha-ri. After she agrees to take her best friend’s place on a blind date, she gets more than what she bargained for when her company’s CEO turns out to be the man she has to scare away.
Three years ago, KakaoPage launched a campaign to promote the romance manhwas on their website, and Bo Gum’s Business Proposal video happened to be the third part of that series.
In it, a suited Bo Gum slips into the role of Kang Tae-moo, who’s first seen conversing with office workers. As we get closer, he approaches the camera, delivers his lines, and flashes a smile before the screen transitions into the image of Tae-moo from the webtoon version.

It’s unclear whether the role for the K-drama was offered to Bo Gum or not, but take not that official casting news came out in 2021 when the actor was already in the midst of his two-year military service.
Bo Gum was officially discharged last February. As his first schedule since his hiatus, the 28-year-old hosted the prestigious 58th Baeksang Arts Awards on May 6, alongside Bae Suzy and Shin Dong Yup.
In response to the news, Bo Gum’s agency, Blossom Entertainment, stated, “Producer Kim Sung Yoon did mention he was planning a new variety show and asked Park Bo Gum whether he would be able to appear on the show, but nothing has been confirmed. He is currently reviewing his schedule.”
