Living Coral is slated to take over.

We're seeing an end to Millennial Pink's reign as the hottest hue, thanks to a vibrant yet mellow color on the rise: Say hello to Living Coral! The orangey hue has officially been proclaimed as Pantone's Color of the Year for 2019.

"Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment," Pantone Color Institute explains. Additionally, this hue is found in nature, which the instititue points out as a much-needed authentic immersion into nature especially for us who live and thrive in the digital age.

Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, also shares that the hue has an orange rather than pink base, which complements many skin tones and has a hint of retro feel in it. In interior design, the muted tone of Living Coral can almost work as a neutral. And in the digital world, the hue appears super saturated and can be the pop of color you need to get your message across.

In essence, Living Coral is the best color for the contemporary society because it "[represents] the fusion of modern life. Pantone Living Coral is a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media."
