It's official! Warner Bros. has acquired the adaptation rights for Kevin Kwan's hilarious best-selling novel Crazy Rich Asians, and a film version is definitely in the works.
This, as Revelist.com puts it, is "the first movie Hollywood literally cannot whitewash." Overdue as things are, the progress is good news! In celebration of the increasing inclusion of Asian actors on the silver screen, we've put together our Crazy Rich Asians dream cast.
Constance Wu as Rachel Chu
IMAGE jezebel.com
The Fresh Off The Boat star is perfect for playing Rachel's clueless ABC (American-Born Chinese), who gets sucked into her fiancee Nick's opulent world.
Wang Leehom as Nick Young
IMAGE aceshowbiz.com
Handsome, intelligent, and unassumingly wealthy, the brilliant history professor and Singapore's most eligible bachelor Nick Young would look great on Chinese-American singer-songwriter/actor Wang Leehom.
Gemma Chan as Astrid Leong-Teo
IMAGE Francesca Turner
With her posh accent and striking features, Gemma Chan (who's appeared in Humans, Sherlock, and Dr. Who) would do heiress Astrid's moniker "The Goddess" justice.
Michelle Yeoh as Eleanor Young

Nick's chic, scheming mother absolutely hates Rachel for her no-name lineage and American accent. We can totally envision Michelle Yeoh slaying the role.
Adrian Pang as Eddie Cheng
IMAGE alchetron.com
Despite being one of the wealthiest men in Hong Kong, the arrogant Eddie Cheng feels the constant need to prove himself by flaunting flashy cars and designer labels. Adrian Pang would play the part to gut-busting hilarity.
Jing Tian as Kitty Pong

Sexy starlet and ambitious social climber Kitty Pong dates Alistair Cheng (Eddie's brother!) for his money, then dumps him for someone even richer. Imagine talented Chinese actress Jing Tian in character!
