2. He rose to fame as a K-pop idol
OG fans know Seong Wu best as a K-pop idol and former member of the highly successful project group Wanna One. To land a spot in the group, he participated in the reality survival show Produce 101 where he competed with 100 other hopefuls to secure a place in the 11-member boy group. Seong Wu proved to be a cut above the rest thanks to his impressive vocals and dance skills, which earned him fifth place by the end of the show.
3. He made his acting debut in 2019
Fun fact: Seong Wu was an acting trainee at his agency, Fantagio, when they chose him to compete in Produce 101. He really can do it all and everyone knows it! After Wanna One’s contract came to an end in 2019, Seong Wu jumped right back to acting and debuted with a lead role in the youth drama At Eighteen. Just a year later, he starred in JTBC’s romance drama More Than Friends, alongside He Is Psychometric star Shin Ye Eun. In 2022, the actor was cast in what could be his biggest role yet, as the leading man in Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon, the sequel to the 2017 hit Strong Girl Do Bong-soon. Here, he’ll be acting opposite fellow rising star and All of Us Are Dead actress Lee Yoo Mi.
4. He’s been recognized by the Baeksang Arts Awards
Seong Wu manages to excel at anything he does, and this has proven especially true when it comes to his acting career. He hit the ground running with his debut performance in At Eighteen, landing multiple nominations from award-giving bodies, including a Best New TV Actor nod at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards. Although he didn’t take home the trophy, he still earned his stripes at the Asia Artist Awards and the Korea Drama Awards for virtually the same category.

6. He can play the guitar and drums
Yep, we’ve got another multitalented star in our midst. After refusing to learn the piano just like his older sister had, Seong Wu and his family decided that he should try taking drum lessons instead. Thankfully, the instrument sustained his interest and Seong Wu got good enough at it to join a band in middle school.

Since their family struggled financially when he was younger, Seong Wu sought out part-time work in high school. When I had an audition or something important, I’d go to that salon and have it done then.”

Everyone has different perspectives and that includes what they find beautiful,” he told the magazine.
