Wedding bells will soon be ringing for the country's first-ever Olympic gold medalist! Hidilyn Diaz announces on Instagram her engagement to her coach-boyfriend Julius Naranjo. They were surrounded by celebrity couples Marco Alcaraz and Precious Lara Quigaman, and Iza Calzado and Ben Wintle.
"It's YES! "It was a magical moment with @imjulius. I'm grateful to God that He sent Julius into my life, he make my life easy," the 30-year-old athlete wrote on Instagram.
"Alam ng iba kung ano mga sinasakripisyo niya para maabot namin ang pangarap na ginto sa Olympics together with #TeamHD, nun laro kinilig at masaya ako kasi siya mismo nagsabi God is the center of our relationship, kaya walang duda magYeYES ako dahil swerte ako may isang Julius nagmamahal, nagintindi, at sumoporta sakin. Thank you sa lahat ng kasabwat ni Julius, magaling po kayo naging meaningful ang gabi dahil sa inyo," she concluded.
Meanwhile, her fiancé Julius posts a photo of Hidilyn with her Olympic gold medal and her new ring. He quips, "There's a first for everything," which also refers to Hidilyn's historic win. But aside from his short and sweet announcement, what caught our eye is Hidilyn's stunning and unique engagement ring.
Zoom in and you'll see that Hidilyn's diamond ring is actually being lifted by a tiny gold barbell! On the inside of the ring, an inscription says "Tokyo 2020," signifying the couple's big win together. Designed by Julius himself and created by Manila Diamond Studio, it's definitely a ring that's fit for an Olympian.
