With Alert Level 1 now implemented in most parts of the the Philippines and warmer days coming up, there are more reasons to visit Baguio City in Benguet. The City of Pines also announced on March 9 that they're lifting the daily limit of the number of travelers entering the tourist destination.
"This is the concept of our recovery. We will again engage with the private and business sectors for us to be able to create that enabling environment. We need to help them recover as we transition to the new normal," Mayor Benjamin Magalong said. The city first reopened to fully vaccinated travelers in October 2021 with a daily limit of 2,000. This was later increased to 3,000 per day in November, then to 5,000 in December of last year.
Registration via Baguio VISITA (or Visitor Information and Travel Assistance) is also made easy through the updated dashboard that allows travelers to book as a group. You can register up to nine companions in two vehicles if you're staying in an accommodation establishment; or up to four companions in one vehicle if you're heading there for just a day.
Here's the list of Baguio travel requirements (as of March 9):
- Approved QR-coded Tourist Pass from Visita Baguio
- Government-issued ID
- Vaccination certificate
Minors are exempted from the vaccination and test requirement if they're accompanied by a vaccinated adult. For travelers who are medically ineligible to be vaccinated, a medical certificate as well as a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival should be presented.
