We're ready for the Ocho to orchestrate the most elaborate (and dare we say, the most fashionable) heist! With the film's trailer released, we're given a glimpse of just what to expect from the star-studded all-female cast of Ocean's 8. Below, here are five things we learned from the teaser:
1. The movie references the opening scene of 2001's Ocean's Eleven.
Here, Sandra Bullock plays Debbie Ocean who is in prison for the crimes she had committed. Now, she's being interviewed, in the hopes of being granted a parole.
2. Debbie's crew is finally introduced.
In the previous movie sequels, each member of the crew was good at something. Now, we know that Cate Blanchett takes on the role of Sandra's sidekick, Awkwafina as the pickpocket, Mindy Kaling plays the jewelry expert while Rihanna plays the computer hacker. It's still quite unclear what Sarah Paulson's part is, apart from being a suburban mom recruited back into thieving by Sandra.
3. Anne Hathaway is the target.
Anne plays Daphne Kluger, the celebrity wearing a $150 million necklace the girls are going to steal. Helena Bonham Carter plays the role of her stylist.
4. The setting takes place at the Met Gala.
We're curious to know if Anna Wintour or any other celebrity will make a cameo in the film! From the trailer, we've only seen James Corden make a short appearance!
5. There's no romantic plot line (so far).
We're not complaining, though! It's refreshing to see a pure heist take place on the silver screen without needing to develop a romantic sub plot to hook the audience.
