Forget grand ballrooms and fancy champagne! If there’s anything we’ve learned from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it’s that true love can be celebrated anytime and anywhere. Nothing proves this more than Arjanmar Rebeta and Khaye Medina’s recently concluded wedding.
Photos of the pair’s special day are currently making buzz on social media as they celebrated their reception in true, free-spirited Filipino fashion, a.k.a. with street food and good company. "Doon ka sa taong papakasalan ka kahit tokneneng at isaw lang ang handa. Laging magkasama, hamon man o isaw ang ulam,” read the caption from their photographer Mediarama Creatives’ Facebook post.
Opting to keep things simple and fuss-free, Jan and Khaye, who tied the knot last September 19 at the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice in UP Diliman, agreed to hold their reception by the street food stalls right across their church ceremony. Hence, photos of their still #aesthetic table spread consisted of every Pinoy’s comfort snacks including isaw, tokneneng, and our favorite dessert staple, sorbetes!
Much like their heartwarming street side celebration, the story behind it proved to be simple and practical as well. “We all have a dream wedding di ba? Kaso because of financial constraint we opted to have an intimate wedding,” Khaye tells Preview. “We initially booked a venue pero we had some issues on the date and location of the wedding. Then nung napadpad kami sa UP church after submitting our initial requirements, nakita namin yung stall across the street ng church. Kumain kami to talk about the plans for our wedding and nagkabiruan kami na ‘dito na lang kaya yung reception?’
