It's still a long way to go before 2020 officially ends, and yet we’ve already lost count of all the viral trends and challenges that have taken over our feeds in the past few months. The massive influx of these online novelties is, of course, owed to the millions of people forcibly homebound due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. This communal case of restlessness is no different for celebrities either, some of whom are currenly jumping onto the latest internet challenge, a.k.a. turning themselves into the most relatable memes of 2020.
Dubbed the #2020Challenge, it all presumably started when Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon posted a photo grid of her various movie roles representing how she felt on each month of this year so far. She starts it off with a snap of Elle Woods’ hopeful face for a bright and cheery picture-perfect January, until the reality of COVID-19 and the global lockdown struck and we’re met with a disheveled and exhausted Cheryl Strayed from the actress' 2014 adventure drama Wild.
Reese was definitely onto something here because the entire meme’s a total mood. She simply captioned her now legendary post with “Yup. #2020challenge” to kick off the viral trend.
A number of celebrities have since followed suit with their own hilarious versions of the meme, ranging from Mindy Kaling, Celine Dion, Viola Davis, to even Gordon Ramsay. Check them all out below for a much-needed quick laugh.
