October is almost here! While it may be impossible to don costumes and go trick-or-treating around town this year, worry not because there’s always another way to celebrate the spooky season. We’re talking staying at home, turning down the lights, and giving ourselves a fright with all of Netflix’s fresh Halloween-themed releases. From family-friendly horror comedies to haunting thrillers that’ll make the hair at the back of your neck stand up, below's a list of new horror films and series to stream this October:
1. #Alive (Now Streaming)
Trapped in their respective apartments, two polar opposite neighbors must find a way to stay alive while a zombie-creating virus ravages Seoul. The task proves to be immensely harrowing when they're both cut off from technology and their only means of seeing the outside world is through their apartment windows.

2. Ratched (Now Streaming)
Set in 1947, Ratched tells the origin story of Mildred Ratched a.k.a the iconic nurse from the 1975 fictional thriller film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, where she was infamously characterized to be cold and ruthless. Netflix's prequel delves into Mildred's early days as well as the events that led her to becoming the cruel nurse that she was.

3. The Babysitter: Killer Queen (Now Streaming)
Two years after defeating his babysitter’s satanic cult, Cole must once again battle with the forces of evil and survive the night when old enemies unexpectedly return to terrorize him and his friends. This comedy horror film is the sequel to the 2017 movie The Babysitter.

4. Hubie Halloween (October 7)
A hilarious family comedy perfect for this upcoming spooky month, Hubie Halloween centers on Hubie Dubois, a resident of Salem town who thanklessly spends the annual holiday making sure everything goes smoothly for the entire neighborhood. But when this year’s festivities open to some of the townspeople mysteriously disappearing, it’s up to Hubie to save the day when everyone else refuses to bat an eye.

5. The Haunting of Bly Manor (October 9)
Set in 1980s England, after an au pair’s tragic death, a young American nanny takes residence in the Bly Manor to take care of their orphaned children. But unfortunately for her, as she’ll soon discover, the eerie and gothic house hides centuries of dark secrets lurking at every corner just waiting to be unearthed.

6. Rebecca (October 21)
The film starts with a whirlwind romance between a young woman and a handsome widower named Maxim de Winter. Swept up in their passion, the pair hastily decide to get married as the new Mrs. de Winter moves into her husband’s imposing family estate dubbed the Manderley. Unaware of the mansion's myterious workings, she finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim's deceased wife Rebecca, whose legacy is kept alive by the estate's devious housekeeper Mrs. Danvers.

7. His House (October 30)
After surviving a grueling escape from war-torn South Sudan, a young refugee couple attempt to adjust to their new life in a small English town. Their struggle only intensifies when they soon discover the horrendous evil lurking beneath the surface of their new homeland.
