Apple’s taking further steps towards organization and productivity with their latest iOS update. The tech developer previewed new features for iPhone’s operating system last Monday, June 22, at the Worldwide Developers Conference held online.
iPhone users can expect a myriad of new features under their finger tips, but most notable of all is the software update’s home screen overhaul. “iOS 14 transforms the most iconic elements of the iPhone experience, starting with the biggest update we’ve ever made to the Home Screen,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering.

Below, we list down all the interesting iOS 14 updates as per the official Apple website.
1. Home Screen Overhaul
The redesigned look will now include widgets on the home page to “present timely information at a glance.” The change mimics Android’s current home screen capacity, while trading iPhone’s minimalist touch in place of faster productivity.
2. App Library
“Automatically organizes all of a user’s apps into one simple, easy-to-navigate view, and intelligently surfaces apps that may be helpful in the moment.”

3. App Clips
“Designed to be discovered the moment it is needed, load a small part of an app experience within seconds to complete a specific task, such as renting a scooter, purchasing a coffee, or filling a parking meter.”

4. Pinned Conversations in Messages
“Users can pin conversations to the top of their messages list, easily keep up with lively group threads through mentions and inline replies, and further customize conversations by setting a group photo using an image or emoji.”

5. Updated Avatars
“New Memoji options in Messages are even more inclusive and diverse with additional hairstyles, headwear, face coverings, and more.”
6. Picture-in-Picture
“Incoming FaceTime and phone calls and Siri interactions take on an all-new compact design that enables users to stay in the context of what they are doing. With picture-in-picture support, iPhone users can now watch a video or take a FaceTime call while using another app.”
7. Translations
“Designed to be the best and easiest app for translating conversations, offering quick and natural translation of voice and text among 11 different languages. On-device mode allows users to experience the features of the app offline for private voice and text translation.”
iOS 14 will be available this fall as a free software update for iPhone 6s users and later.
