It's Mother's Day in a few weeks! You know what that means? It's time to treat the queens in our lives with a much deserved R&R. Maybe treat her to lunch, take her to the spa, and get your nails done, then sit back, relax, and finish her special day with a Netflix movie or two.
While you'll have to figure out the rest of your mom's grand celebration on your own, we've made it a bit easier and curated a list of movies that both of you can enjoy at the day's end.
1. Mothers and Daughters
Let this star-studded cast of wonderful women bring you and your mother to tears as motherhood is captured—in the most heartfelt way—through the eye of a photographer's camera lens.
2. Mamma Mia!
If you and your mom aren't exactly the emotional type, sing and dance along instead to the iconic songs in Mamma Mia! We're sure she'll appreciate you learning the lyrics to her favorite ABBA tunes.
3. Everything About Her
Laughter, tears, and Vilma Santos? Yes, please! This movie's perfect if your mom's a sucker for a heartwarming drama with a dash of comedy and romance on the side.
4. Freaky Friday
Of course, we just had to put the iconic Freaky Friday onto this list! Everyone's favorite switch-and-fix movie, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsey Lohan's dynamic will teach you and your mother to hopefully appreciate and love your differences.
5. You Again
For a light viewing experience, tune in to You Again. A mother versus mother comedy spread out with a wedding and good 'ol hilarious, petty high school revenge drama. Plus, the way Betty White says she's on "the Twitter?" Comedy gold.
6. Ang Tanging Ina
Watch Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas jump through the most ridiculous twists and turns all too keep her large family afloat, reminding you of the steadfast strength your own mom has just to make sure you're well taken care of.
7. Brave
You and your mom not seeing eye-to-eye? Patch things up while watching this heartwarming Disney animated film. We dare you not to hug it out once the movie ends.
8. Birdbox
If your mom fancies psychological thrillers more, indulge her with Birdbox, and watch Sandra Bullock attempt to get her children through a horrifying post-apocalyptic world.
9. Life As We Know It
For every child with an adoptive parent out there who's loved you like you were their own, you and your mom (and dad) will definitely relate to Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel's dysfunctional, found family in Life As We Know It.
10. Like Father
Because while not all of us are lucky enough to have a mother, there's always that one special dad in our lives taking on a role meant for two. He deserves to be celebrated on this day, too!
