After playing a Disney princess alongside Angelina Jolie in the movie Maleficent, the 17 year-old Elle Fanning is now more than ready to show the world just how good an actress she is.

This 2015, a film about the real struggles of a transgender teen is about to open the eyes of many. In the movie, Elle plays the role of a confused and closeted transgender youth named Ramona, who seeks to fully transition into Ray. “I definitely knew it would be a huge challenge to do. I definitely have never done anything like that before. I have a lot of transgender friends who go to my school and have made a transition over the summer,” shared Elle in an interview in Toronto. It was also at the Toronto Film Festival where the movie debuted last September 12 and received a standing ovation plus rave reviews.
Clearly a reality with the youth today, these issues will hopefully be adressed by the making of the film, alongside raising awareness about the real-life struggles of being a transgender teen.
