Welcome to my Ted Talk.

We all get those days, weeks, or even months when we’re feeling down about ourselves. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with a little motivation and words of encouragement coming from someone else to give you a little boost. My personal go-to? Ted Talks! No, not the Twitter meme. I’m talking about actual motivational videos organized and delivered by experts around the world. It’s like having hundreds of life coaches all available to you for free whenever you need them.

Below are eight Ted Talks on self-esteem and self-worth to remind you just how great you are, and how fantastic you could be!

1. The Power of Vulnerability by Brene Brown

"This is what I have found: To let ourselves be seen, deeply seen, vulnerably seen... to love with our whole hearts, even though there's no guarantee–to practice gratitude and joy in those moments of terror, when we're wondering, "Can I love you this much? Can I be this fierce about this?' just to be able to stop and, instead of catastrophizing what might happen, to say, 'I'm just so grateful, because to feel this vulnerable means I'm alive.' And the last, which I think is probably the most important, is to believe that we're enough. Because when we work from a place, I believe, that says, 'I'm enough' ... then we stop screaming and start listening, we're kinder and gentler to the people around us, and we're kinder and gentler to ourselves. " - Brenee Brown, 2011

2. The Art of Being Yourself by Caroline McHugh

"Most of us would rather sleep walk until something happens to wake us up. And what will happen is somebody you love will get sick, or you'll get sick, or you'll get fired. Or maybe it's something impersonal. Maybe 9/11 happens, or the tsunami happens, but something happens that rocks you back into that inner self, and makes you ask the question 'Who do you think you are?' The problem is when it happens catastrophically is you're vulnerable, you're weak. My question is why wouldn't you ask yourself these questions when you're strong? From a position of health, when you're in a job, when you're loved. That's when the questions become most useful. - Caroline McHugh, 2013

3. How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over by Mel Robbins

"I don't care how you feel. I care about what you want. And if you listen to how you feel when it comes to what you want, you will not get it. Because you will never feel like it." - Mel Robbins, 2011

4. Girl Up: The Secrets to an Extraordinary Life by Courtney Ferrell

"Perfection is not a human quality, and a lot of girls and women pretend like it is. It is not. Let go of it. Don’t even aspire for it. Just be good enough, and show up with self-confidence, and show up with love." - Courtney Ferrel, 2015

5. Claiming Your Identity by Understanding Your Self-Worth by Judge Helen Whitener

"At a young age I discovered that society had predetermined codes that were used not just to identify us, but were used to determine who we are, and who we were going to be. These codes were arbitrary and limited one’s potential. I decided that I was not going to be molded by, limited by, or controlled by these codes or identifiers." - Judge Helen Whitener, 2015

6. Cultivating Unconditional Self-Worth by Adia Gooden

"What would you find the courage to do if you knew you were worthy? What would you dare to dream if your self-worth weren’t at stake?" - Adia Gooden, 2018

7. The Secret of Becoming Mentally Strong by Amy Morin

"The only person you should compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday." -  Amy Morin, 2015

8. What if There's Nothing Wrong With You by Susan Henkels

“Wouldn’t it be nice if we could stop fighting ourselves, stop being our worst enemy, and go do something we really want to do? So this is all about the practice of dissolving judgment, blame, and criticism and just replacing all of that with ‘what is,’" - Susan Henkels, 2019
