It’s been a record-breaking year for Netflix. With a surge of subscribers during the first half of the pandemic, it’s no secret that millions around the world have turned to the streaming site for comfort and entertainment while quarantined at home. “By comparison, the service added 15.77 million subscribers in the first three months of 2020 and 10.09 million between April and June, giving the company its biggest growth spurt in history,” wrote Forbes.com.

That said, an increase in viewers and watch time also means a spike in popularity for the streaming platform’s content. Some shows in particular proved to be more beloved than others. Over at the K-drama front, Netflix reports that the series most streamed this 2020 was The King: Eternal Monarch. Despite the show garnering mixed reviews from critics and netizens alike, it still found its way to the top spot, perhaps owing to the fact that the drama acted as Hallyu star Lee Min Ho’s comeback to the small screen in four years. The word-of-mouth hit Start-Up also easily made it to the Top 5 despite only having concluded last week.
