Life consists of two things—things you can control and things you can’t. Then, there are miracles. Glimmers of light that revive you with life’s awe-inspiring beauty.
Kathryn Bernardo and Belle Mariano are in the throes of these miracles—from Kathryn settling into her new home and getting nominated for a FAMAS award, to Belle wrapping up her hit teleserye “Can’t Buy Me Love” and receiving a star at Eastwood’s Walk of Fame.
In this edition of Kathryn Bernardo and Belle Mariano for Preview.ph May 2024, we unearth how these stars stay graceful, poised, and radiant amid life’s twists and turns, and how they find life’s miracles in every season.
Finding Miracles In Every Day
What is a miracle? Kathryn defines it this way. “A miracle is something that happens when you least expect it. But for them to happen, you have to work hard. You need to believe it and work for it,” she says.
Since joining showbiz at age seven, Kathryn had to mature fast. Showbiz is among the most cutthroat industries, with its demanding schedules and the pressures of fame. To succeed, she shares that she had to develop strong boundaries, foster a growth mindset, and embrace hard work. These gave her the tools to chase her miracles. 
But It’s not always easy. Kathryn notes that as she gets older, challenges evolve, too. “My challenges last year were different from when I was younger. But, I’m learning to accept that challenges evolve, and I can’t control if they get tougher.”
Then, she adds, “But sometimes, before sleeping, I realize, ‘Who am I to complain, eh ito lang pinagdadaanan ko? The world doesn’t revolve around me.’ This reminds me how blessed and lucky I am. It helps me end my day with gratitude.” 
Kathryn also credits her strong support system for picking her up whenever she needs more support. “There are days when I don’t feel confident and beautiful. But I surround myself with friends and family who encourage me”
With their help, Kathryn always finds her way back to herself and finds the strength to go after miracles.
Like Kathyrn, Belle also started her showbiz career early. She is, now, one of the fastest-rising Gen Z actresses, with a string of successful films like “Four Sisters Before The Wedding” and “An Inconvenient Love” under her belt.
Perspective plays a huge role in Belle’s success, especially when facing challenges. “There were bumps along the way, but if you see a challenge as something that will help you grow, it’s sky’s the limit for you,” confides the young actress.
Belle is also a staunch advocate of self-love. She often reminds herself to embrace who she is, flaws and all. This, and her healthy outlook on challenges, connects her to a deep sense of gratitude for life. This is how she began to spot miracles. “Being able to wake up, breathe, live, and love—I see every day as a miracle,” she shares.
They may be in different seasons in their lives, but Kathryn and Belle demonstrate an uncanny ability to face challenges with grace and gratitude. That is why life showers these strong women with miracles.
Experiences That Shaped Them
Learning to chase miracles and finding them in the mundane, didn’t happen overnight.
Kath confesses that one of her first hurdles was accepting that criticism toward her professional and personal life will always be part of her job as an actress. Eventually, she adapted by filtering out the noise. “[Now,] I choose what I want to see, what I want to hear, and who I surround myself with. I select what truly deserves my attention,” she observes.
Another thing she does that helps her, and also one of her biggest strengths is knowing to look for the lessons in pain. By doing so, she transforms every hardship into periods of intense growth.
She also requests rest days when needed. “Self-care is not optional, self-care is mandatory,” she emphasizes.
Meanwhile, Belle finds strength in her inner circle as she navigates her fast-paced industry. Like Kathryn, she also prioritizes self-care, highlighting how it helps feed her self-love. “Self-care reminds me to love myself. When you take care of yourself, it also spills into how you treat others. You, in turn, inspire them to love themselves, too.”
Entering A New Era
So how did these women fare as they entered a new era of their lives?
It’s no secret that 2024 ushered dramatic changes into Kathryn’s life. The actress disclosed that she started the year anxious about all the new things in her life but she has already made peace with it.
She also took away from the experience a gift—a miracle. “The biggest gift; is I was able to give myself new confidence and trust in myself. Now, I’m free to navigate my life and make decisions. Now, I know how to say no.”
And as she befriends change and sails into a new chapter of her life, Kathryn anchors herself by keeping close to her family and staying rooted in her core values—that of being a good person with a good heart.
As for Belle? It’s clear that her showbiz career has just begun. With the final episode of “Can’t Buy Me Love” having aired early this month, she is now free to explore new roles and projects.
Belle views her career’s full-speed status in two ways. First, she explains the importance of not being swayed by all of it, and how a solid foundation and circle can help remind her of who she is and what’s important.
But she also acknowledges that good in changes. “When there is change, there is growth,” she says wisely. “It’s really up to you what you’ll take into heart. Just know who you are; love who you are.”
Staying Radiant Amid The Plot Twists
Change is the only permanent thing. Kathryn and Belle are pictures of how to stay graceful, poised, and radiant through all the plot twists. For Kathryn, it’s about developing strong boundaries, a growth mindset, and embracing hard work. For Belle, it’s about having strong self-love and a deep acceptance of yourself. 
It’s also about staying close to those you can trust—and this applies to their self-care.
