In a recent TikTok, the 19-year-old responded to a netizen comment which reads: “Your [sic] so beautiful Miel but stop eating rice please… [emoji]”
In a calm yet candid manner, Miel was straightforward in admitting that comments like these did affect her, as she called this particular remark “pretty offensive.”

“The thing is, I don't know you and you don't know me, and no matter how much of my content you consume, it does not give you the right or the knowledge of what's actually going on with my life,” she said.
According to Miel, responses such as these were unwarranted, especially for someone who wasn’t their relative or close friend. The content creator also stated that she had her own support system, which included her parents, siblings, and her own nutritionist.
“I get so many comments from people being worried about me and worried about my health, and it just kind of feels condescending,” she remarked. “It does not give you the right to overstep your boundaries and stick your nose in other people's business.”

In the same video, Miel also discussed her struggles with an eating disorder and body image issues at a young age, which had once led her to have an “obsessive focus” on foregoing carbs from her daily intake.
“I have been trying to relearn the fact that I have to stop eliminating important nutrients from my diet, which caused me to lose a lot of nutrition at a very early teen age,” Miel said.
She continued: “I know that you're looking out for me and you're probably a very sweet person, but there needs to be a little bit more of an awareness of boundaries, because this is not a comment you should just be saying to a random stranger.”

The original user who had posted the remark had since apologized through a comment in the video. “You are right, I apologize if I offended you [emoji]” they wrote.
As a response, Miel stayed gracious. “It’s okay! I accept ur apology, it’s completely alright. I just hope you understand and we can both grow for the better in the future :)”
We hear you, Miel!
