It's official! As of last night, Martine Cajucom and Cliff Ho are now engaged. Cliff popped the question to the Sunnies Creative Director last night in Uluwatu, Bali. In an exclusive interview with Preview, the new bride-to-be tells us how it all happened. Read it below!
According to Martine, she started getting suspicious months before it happened. "He had been baiting me with a decoy trip to Europe, and I thought that was just very, very obvious," she says.
With Europe out of the question, Cliff invited her on a decoy trip to Bali instead. "He made quite an elaborate story to say why we needed to go there for the weekend," she recalls. "He told me that his friend was opening a resort, and all his friends will be coming, so I had zero expectations."
To Martine's surprise, what greeted her at Alila Villas wasn't Cliff's friends, but the breathtaking view. "It is by far one of the best resorts—if not the best resort I've seen in my whole life throughout all my travels," she claims. "I just really fell in love with the place."
She only fell harder in love with it when her now-fiancé took her to dinner. "It was at sunset, and everything was perfect: weather, food, drinks, the whole thing was amazing," Martine describes. "I even made a joke in passing, saying 'Are you proposing tonight 'cause this is stunning'."
The waiter then handed her what she thought was a menu, but was actually a book of her and Cliff's best memories. It had their first photo together, snaps from her cousins' weddings, and some of their trips abroad. "I completely lost it. I was sobbing like a little girl, ugly crying the whole time," she admits.
Cliff popped the question right then and there, giving Martine this gorgeous new rock on her finger:
Congratulations, you two!
