Do you remember what you were doing at 12?
Head banging to Fall Out Boy, maybe? Or binge reading the last Harry Potter book?
Well, while most of us were struggling with that strange transition into high school, Martin Garrix was mixing beats. The now-19-year-old told Style Bible that he made his first track when he was only 12! “I thought it was the best track ever, but probably, if I listen to it now, I’d think it was crap.” Hey, even if it was, it’s still a pretty big deal (my biggest accomplishment at that age was getting my braces off). Avicii and Zedd are both 25.
Solidifying his career at 18 with his hit “Animals,” Garrix has topped music charts and toured all over the globe.
This weekend, the Dutch superstar returns to the Philippines for the Closeup Forever Summer event. And he’s prepared an outfit to help him DJ through the Manila heat, “When it’s hot I like to wear shorts and a t-shirt,” he told us. "I always wear a cap or else I do a little product in my hair to style it. Nothing too fancy."
Closeup Forever Summer is on May 16, 2015 at the MOA Event Grounds. Buy tickets at SM Ticket Portals at PHP4,000 for VIP passes and PHP2,500 for a Gold passes. Follow Closeup Philippines on Facebook and Twitter.
