It's confirmed: Marian Rivera will be part of the Miss Universe panel of judges at this year's pageant. The Kapuso actress shared the happy news in an online media conference.

She previously hinted at this stint online, but was immediately met with criticism. Netizens questioned her credentials and ability to fulfill the role of a Miss Universe judge. So, when asked about her feelings towards these comments, Marian is actually fully aware of the doubts but only had the most gracious response to her bashers.

"Aaminin ko na hindi naman talaga English ang first language ko kung hindi Filipino at kinuha pa rin nila ako—siguro hindi lang dahil doon—kung hindi dahil sa aking body of work bilang isang Filipina," she admits. Marian further assures everyone that she will put her best foot forward and will be true to herself as she carries out her duties. Di ba?" she adds.

According to GMA News, the multi-awarded actress and entrepreneur "was chosen by the production less than a month ago, and then the choice was forwarded to the Miss Universe Organization who vetted her before asking her to be part of the selection committee."

She's set to fly out to Israel soon and is already looking forward to meeting the candidates. More than being given a vote as to who becomes the next Miss Universe queen, Marian emphasizes that for her, being a judge is essentially just the word for her task at the competition. What matters to her the most is being able to appreciate and having a chance to celebrate all the women competing.

Good luck and we're so excited for you, Marian!
