In case you’ve been living under the rock and happened to miss the news, the controversial white sand beach made with crushed dolomite from Cebu opened to the public last Saturday, September 19, 2020. Dubbed the poor Manileño's "Boracay," Manila Bay's shoreline along Roxas Boulevard was given a makeover as part of the city’s rehabilitation efforts despite various protests claiming that dolomite could be harmful to humans and the environment.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) spearheaded the event in line with the International Coastal Clean-up Day, and an excited crowd flocked to Manila Bay hoping to snap a photo or two at the artificial white sand beach.
