Disney's finally found its Prince Eric! Sorry, kids, but it's really not Harry Styles. According to reports, 24-year old Jonah Hauer-King has been cast as the dashing prince by the sea.
The role was first offered to Harry, who turned down the opportunity last August after explaining that he wanted to focus more on his music.
Jonah is most known for playing Laurie Laurence in a television adaptaion of Little Women. He also currently stars in the BBC war drama World on Fire. His movie credits, on the other hand, include A Dog's Way Home, Postcards from London, and the coming-of-age Cyrano de Bergerac remake, Old Boys.
The English actor is set to star alongside Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay as the voices of Scuttle and Flounder, respectively.
The live action remake of The Little Mermaid will be featuring songs from the 1989 original Disney version, along with a few new ones from Lin-Manuel Miranda. And if the low quality video of Jonah singing to Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah on YouTube is any indication, it sounds like our Prince Eric can most definitely hold a tune of his own.
