Elle Woods fans, Legally Blonde 3 is officially no longer coming out in 2020. But don't object just yet—the movie is still happening! We just need to wait a little longer—two more years, to be exact—and then we can finally watch our favorite pink-clad Harvard Law School grad on our big screen again.
On Twitter, MGM Studios announced that the cult classic film's third installment is now slated to premiere in 2022. They revealed the news shortly after the Legally Blonde cast's virtual reunion, where Reese Witherspoon, Selma Blair, and more sat down to talk about the movie almost two decades later. It's said that they confirmed the release date to be May of that year, too!
While there's no set date for the premiere yet, here's what we know so far: The movie will be produced by Reese's company, Hello Sunshine, and the screenplay will be penned by Mindy Kaling and Brooklyn Nine Nine co-creator Dan Goor. Needless to say, Reese Witherspoon will also be reprising her role as the iconic Elle Woods!
So there you have it, everyone! Two more years until we'll all be bending and snapping back to theaters. But then again, we've already waited for 17 years since the sequel. So what, like it's hard?
