He’s a total “noona” magnet.

While the conservative side of society may still raise some eyebrows towards relationships with older women and younger men, the fictional world thrives in them. K-dramas are a picture-perfect case in point, as our streaming screens have welcomed several love stories involving noonas, a.k.a. what a younger Korean man calls an older woman.

Nobody can better attest to that than Korean actor Lee Do Hyun, who the internet has dubbed as Hallyu’s resident noona magnet. With plenty of dramas linking him to older actresses and characters, it’s a title fit for this 27-year-old romance regular. For further proof, peruse the list below for all the series where he finds good ‘ol love—even with an age gap!

1. "Hotel Del Luna" with IU

Age gap: Two years

Before Yeo Jin Goo’s Goo Chan-seong came into the historical fantasy Hotel Del Luna, IU (playing Jang Mon-wol) was paired in a historical love line with Do Hyun’s Go Chung-myung. The now 29-year-old idol-actress played an ancient being in the series, who, in the Joseon era, found love with soldier Chung Myung. Their relationship ultimately ends in a web of tragedy and betrayal, but their short-lived scenes are still worth noting!

2. "18 Again" with Kim Ha Neul

 Age gap: 17 years

With its de-aging central plot, it’s a given that 18 Again will spotlight a noona romance that’ll have viewers swooning. In the 2020 drama, Do Hyun plays the teenage version of Jung Da-jung, who returns to his younger body after a tumultuous time as a middle-aged man. While his youth may be restored, he still set his sights on his 37-year-old wife Hong Dae Young, played by veteran actress Kim Ha Neul.

3. "Melancholia" with Im Soo Jung

Age gap: 16 years

Set in a prestigious high school, a sexual scandal breaks on campus between passionate math teacher Ji Yoon-soo and her genius student Baek Seung-yoo. Do Hyun plays opposite Im Soo Jung, whose character is soon dismissed by the school. Four years later, an adult Seung-yoo crosses paths with his former teacher, as they begin to formulate a plan in hopes of clearing their name and exposing the school’s corruption.

4. "The Glory" with Song Hye Kyo

The hit Netflix drama is another compelling addition to Do Hyun’s noona cinematic universe. This time around, the young actor plays plastic surgeon Joo Yeo-jeong, who joins Moon Dong-eun (Song Hye Kyo)’s quest for revenge against the people who’ve wronged their pasts.
