Drop by the Legazpi Village establishment for a proper kaiseki affair.
Within the fascinating world of Japanese food is kaiseki ryori, also just called kaiseki—the art of multi-course, fine-dining caliber meals featuring great-quality, seasonal ingredients. Here in Manila, Kyo-to in Legazpi Village was one spot that whipped up sublime kaiseki and did Japanese tradition rightful justice. Kyo-to sadly closed around the time the pandemic set in, which left a gaping hole in the hearts and stomachs of those who appreciate Japanese haute cuisine. But in the name of happy endings (surprise, surprise: they do exist at times), that hole's about to get filled again. Kyo-to is back up and running this September onwards.

You can dine at Japanese restaurant Kyo-to again starting this month:

If you've been missing dining at the veritable kaiseki spot, you're in for a treat. "To our valued guests... we are pleased to inform you that starting September, Kyo-to will resume normal operations to serve you," the restaurant writes in a post on their official Facebook page. Start making those reservations, stat.

More on making those reservations: plan ahead, as Kyo-to advises doing so at least a week in advance. The restaurant is open from Tuesdays to Sundays, 5:30 to 10 p.m.; note that you'll have to bring your vaccination card, and that they follow a smart-casual dress code (keep away the sleeveless shirts, slippers, and shorts for now). If it's your first time dining at Kyo-to, you'll also be required to make a 50% deposit. Just give them a ring at 0917-596-9697 or 8805-7742 to 43 once you've marked a date.

Kyo-to is at G/F Coyiuto House, 119 C. Palanca Street, Legazpi Village, Makati City. For more information, check out Kyo-to's Facebook page.
