Remember when Park Seo Joon (Itaewon Class) and Hyun Bin (Crash Landing on You) went head-to-head last year as nominees for the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards' Best Actor category? There's no doubt that every K-drama fangirl alive had a hard time choosing who to bet on! In the end, it was Kang Ha Neul who bagged the trophy for his performance as Hwang Yong-sik in When the Camellia Blooms. But oh boy, what an unforgettable competition that was!
Well, brace yourselves, because it looks like we're in for another heart-racing awards night this year: FYI, Kim Soo Hyun and Song Joong Ki are both competing for Best Actor this time around! Kim Soo Hyun, of course, is gunning for the title for his impeccable portrayal of Moon Gang-tae in It's Okay to Not Be Okay. On the other hand, Song Joong Ki is not to be taken for granted given his exquisite performance as the titular character in Vincenzo. We can't believe we're saying this again, but can't we please just call it a tie and be done with it?
That said, the rest of the nominees for Best Actor category are no joke either. Joining them are Lee Joon Gi (Flower of Evil), Um Ki Joon (The Penthouse), and Shin Ha Kyun (Beyond Evil)—all amazing actors who could very well snatch away the much-coveted award, too!
Oh, and mind you, it's also a stiff competition for the Best Actress category. For starters, nominees include Seo Ye Ji as Ko Mun-yeong in It's Okay to Not Be Okay as well as Shin Hye Sun as Queen Cheorin in Mr. Queen! Completing the lineup are Kim So Hyun (River Where the Moon Rises), Kim So Yeon (The Penthouse), and Uhm Ji Won (Birthcare Center). Whew! What a powerful set, don't you agree?
Good luck to the panel of judges because it will definitely be a hard decision to make! You can check out the full list of nominees for 57th Baeksang Arts Awards here.
