Make way for our new movie actor: Kim Seon Ho is confirmed to star in the Korean film, Sad Tropics!
In October, Seon Ho has been caught in a controversy involving his ex-girlfriend which was soon followed by an apology letter from him. Not long after, Korean media outlet Dispatch released two reports where they shared how his ex has reportedly distorted the truth. Although there were some brands who pulled out his photos on their SNS and he was removed from his two other films, it looks like Seon Ho has survived South Korea's cancel culture—and his casting in Sad Tropics is proof.
Here's everything we know so far about "Sad Tropics":
The story is focused on an aspiring boxer who is half-Korean and half-Filipino. He has always wanted to meet his father who abandoned him and so he flew to South Korea. Based on its title, we're pretty sure that Sad Tropics will make us cry buckets. At the same time, we're also ready for a thrilling ride because the plot is injected with bad guys!
Two months ago, Kim Seon Ho was in talks to star in Sad Tropics. Now that his casting is confirmed, our good boy is about to make his movie debut! There are no details yet on his character but we'll definitely keep you updated.
Reply 1994 star Go Ara has been offered a role in the film, and in case she accepts it, Sad Tropics will be her movie comeback after five years.
Previously, Kapuso actress Marian Rivera was rumored to play the lead's Filipino mom while Mask actor Yeon Jung Hoon is said to be her estranged Korean husband in the movie. There are no official announcements on this yet though.
Director Park Hoon Jung is at the helm of Sad Tropics. In the past years, he has led a number of box office films such as The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion and V.I.P.
The release date
There is no specific date of release for Sad Tropics yet but as reported by Star News via Soompi, filming has been rescheduled from mid-November to December. Let's hope we can all watch the film in PH cinemas, if not through streaming apps!
