Perhaps one of reality TV’s most prominent names, Kim Kardashian, to put it lightly, lives an eventful life. One would think that with a world as colorful as hers, her not-so-humble abode would be just as vibrant, but, as it turns out, the opposite is actually true. In a recent video with Vogue, the TV personality took viewers on a tour of her California mansion, and it’s safe to say that every corner belongs to the Pinterest board of any minimalist hoping to overhaul their home—or a monk looking to put up a monastery, it’s all perspective, really.
Kim’s 60 million dollar house, which she got to keep after splitting from her ex-husband, Kanye West, is a sweeping expanse of cream hues and clean, negative space. This isn’t the first time she showed off the jaw-dropping estate to the public, but it’s the first we’ve seen the place since her divorce, and, as she mentions in the new video, “A few things have been updated.”
If you’ve yet to see her initial tour in 2019, scroll ahead as we pick out all the must-see cool details of Kim Kardashian’s minimalist home:
The sleek living room and kitchen
It’s clear Kim stayed true to one palette for her house and we first get a glimpse of it in action via her kitchen and living room. Save for the wall-length TV, both areas exude a zen-like energy thanks to their simplicity, not in size, of course, but in the sleek, fuss-free decor used—or the lack thereof.
The artwork displayed within her home
The devoted mom that she is, Kim proudly displays the artworks of her children across her home. North West, in particular, is quite the budding painter, as evidenced by the pieces Kim shows off to Vogue.
Kim explains that while the rest of her house is painted in neutral hues, her kids’ rooms are anything but muted. "I have the playroom filled with clutter. Bedrooms: One is pink, one is purple, one is blue, one is dinosaurs. Each kid can have their full style and taste in their bedroom and have so much fun.”
The sitting room
Adjacent to Kim’s bedroom is a “sitting room” that she uses when she feels like settling down and drinking tea. This is also where she writes letters to her kids and updates their individual scrap books.
It's true, this Kardashian’s a crafty one, and she spends her pastime decorating books filled with memories for her four children. She’s your typical doting mom, except she does her arts and crafts in a massive all-white, high-ceilinged room. No biggie.
Let’s face it, from what we've seen so far, Kim’s house could almost double as a museum or even a mausoleum as some people on the internet have described it. We mean, just look at the shot below of a wide and eerie hallway. FYI, if this reminds you of a "futuristic monastery," that’s because it’s exactly what she and Kanye were going for when they had the house’s interior conceptualized by Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt.
Even Kim’s backyard (although we struggle to call it that because it could pass for a whole mini park) is in theme with her neutral-colored home. The basketball court most beloved by her kids is painted black to match her gym equipment, which, you guessed it, are all in black too.
On why she opted for a “minimal” home, Kim explains, “I find that there’s so much chaos out in the world that when I come home I want it to be really quiet and I want everything to feel calming. Shockingly, [having] four kids hasn’t messed up my cream house.”
Yep, you read that right, they’ve got a meadow attached to their backyard. As per Kim, all the fruits and vegetables her family consume are picked from this very field of greenery. You just have to see it to believe it.
