Kathryn Bernardo knows the importance of saving and investing her money. Since she started her career at a young age, Kathryn has always turned to her mom Min Bernardo for advice on managing her finances.
"Sobrang dami kong natutunan from my mom kasi sobrang practical niya na tao," the Lazada ambassador told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview via e-mail. One important financial lesson she learned from her mom is not to spend all of her earnings in one go.
The 24-year-old actress told PEP.ph, "Palagi niyang sinasabi na hindi porke't kumikita ka, gagastusin mo lahat. Kailangan mo pa rin mag-save for your future and dapat hindi pa rin magastos.
"So, you need to balance everything lang, and huwag ka ma-overwhelm kapag feeling mo malaki iyong income mo this month. Kasi next month, hindi mo alam kung ano iyong mangyayari, so dapat lahat in moderation talaga."
Kathryn has the capacity to spend her money on whatever she wants, considering that she is one of the biggest stars of her generation and is probably one of the highest-paid actresses in the country. But Kathryn opts to put her money on investments.
She told PEP.ph, "If there’s one thing I could share, especially sa mga ka-age ko, invest on properties kasi hindi ka talo kapag nag-invest ka sa ganun."
Kathryn is not one to indulge in buying luxury items on a whim. But if she does want something, she sleeps on it first before making a decision to buy it. She said, "For items na I really want, pinag-iisipan ko siya, but the next day, bibilhin ko na kasi baka maubos or ma-out of stock. So, if may gusto ako and feeling ko na deserve ko siya, bibilhin ko na kasi ayoko magsisi kapag nagkaubusan na."
