2020's turning out to be a big year for Kathryn Bernardo! She has a wildly successful new vlog, in which she announced that she will be releasing a new teleserye alongside on- and off-screen partner Daniel Padilla. She also recently made headlines as the muse to team Magnolia Hotshots for PBA's Season 45 opening ceremony. But it seems like the 23-year-old actress won't be running out of reasons to celebrate anytime soon—because apparently, she and her family have officially begun the construction of their dream home!
Kathryn took to Instagram earlier today to announce the big news. "March 9, 2020. Day 1. Ground breaking of our new home," she captioned the post. "The construction of our dream home has officially begun. I still can’t believe it’s finally happening after 3 years of planning!"
The photos featured her family plus Daniel, all wearing construction hats and holding shovels as they gamely posed for the camera to mark the momentous occasion. Even Kathryn's dog made an appearance!
As Kathryn mentioned in the post, the dream house is three years in the making. She shared her excitement about the project last June 2017 in the Tonight Show with Boy Abunda. "We're starting pa Tito Boy sa planning and all," she says.
Fast forward to July 2019, a first glimpse of the lot was shared by Kathryn's mom, Min Bernardo, on her Instagram feed. The post even featured Daniel, who must have accompanied the family while surveying the land. The lot was bought in 2016.
According to Pep.ph, Kathryn shared in a Magandang Buhay interview that she was planning to start construction within the year, as her parents were excited for their dream house to turn into a reality. "Gusto ko kasi kapag nagpatayo ng dream house yung gusto na namin, yung nae-envision ni mama kung ano ang gusto ko, lahat, sa buong family. So hopefully mag-start na yung construction soon. Kayod pa," she says.
Kathryn also shared with Pep.ph that she has been working hard for plans to push through, and she's also been saving up. "Lupa pa nga lang, nagtatrabaho pa ako for the house. Kasi, I promised [my mom] na someday mapapatayo ko rin yung [house] niya."
"Sana soon kasi I’m taking my time. Hindi joke magpagawa ng bahay. Siyempre kung may gusto akong ibigay kay mama na dream house, yung dream house na niya.
"So magtatrabaho pa ako and, hopefully, maka-start yun soon kasi tatlong taon nang nandun yung lupa. Sabi na lang namin, someday, uunti-untiin natin iyan."
Needless to say, Kathryn's hard work has paid off, and her family will be able to enjoy their dream house in the near future. Congratulations, Kathryn, on the construction of your family's dream home! We can't wait to see it slowly come to life.
