A K-drama's success can partly be attributed to the stars who bring the characters' roles to life. Have you ever wondered what your favorite dramas would have been like if they had a different set of cast members? Well, some of the popular dramas nowaways initially had a different actress in their lineup. Below, we list down a few of Hallyu actresses who had to reject roles in popular Korean series:
Song Hye Kyo
Song Hye Kyo was offered the lead role in the K-drama Hyena alongside Ju Ji Hoon, but because of conflicts with her filming schedule for a film, she decided to decline the role.
Jun Ji Hyun
It seems there was almost a time when we would not have seen Jun Ji Hyun star alongside Kim Soo Hyun in My Love from the Stars because the actress initially turned down the role. The production staff, however, persisted and she eventually accepted.
There were also reports that Jun Ji Hyun was offered the lead female role in My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho which she declined. The role eventually went to Shin Min Ah.
Bae Suzy
Many K-drama fans first fell in love with Kim Go Eun in Cheese in the Trap, but before she was officially casted for the role of Hong Seol, it was Bae Suzy who was initially set to star as the lead role in the drama. Suzy, who was still an active member of the girl group Miss A back then, later on decided to decline the role.
Son Ye Jin
Son Ye Jin would have had a reunion with her Something in the Rain co-star Jung Hae In after being offered the lead role in One Spring Night. She declined, however, and the role was eventually taken on by Han Ji Min.
Lee Sung Kyung
In 2017, reports about Lee Sung Kyung considering a role in a K-drama called Be Careful of This Woman (later on renamed to Suspicious Partner) came out. It seems that Lee Sung Kyung rejected the role which later on went to Nam Ji Hyun. TheÂWeightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo actress would have starred alongside Ji Chang Wook.
