We don't have to tell you that Jung Ho Yeon is the next global darling. The Squid Game star is already everywhere, from Louis Vuitton and Calvin Klein campaigns to the cover of American Vogue. But like us, you might be wondering: What's next for 2021's fastest-rising Korean actress?
In her cover interview with Vogue, it was clear that Ho Yeon is set on pursuing acting more. She recently signed with Creative Artists Agency, an American talent agency with Hollywood stars like Anya Taylor-Joy, Cate Blanchett, and Jennifer Lopez as clients. Her contract has led the actress to contemplatemoving to Los Angeles, too, although nothing seems to be set in stone just yet.
"I have always wanted to go to Hollywood and to act in America, and I still do," Ho Yeon tells Vogue. "But Squid Game changed my mindset. It doesn’t have to be an American movie or a European movie, it’s the story and the message that are more important."
Speaking of the Netflix hit, the likelihood of the character Kang Sae-byeok being in season two is still quite low. Ho Yeon does, however, seem very open to the idea. She even joked that they should make the show like the K-drama Penthouse, where deceased characters eventually came back to the show.
While there has yet to be news about her next real acting gig, Ho Yeon did want the world to know about her dream role. The actress told Monica Kim, "I want to dye my hair like in Eternal Sunshine, but crazier. Purple? It’s my favorite color. You can write that: Please give me a character that dyes her hair purple."
Needless to say, we're keeping our eyes peeled for Ho Yeon's next on-screen hit—especially if she ends up having purple hair in it.
