Judy Ann Santos is one of the many celebs who have extended a helping hand during this time of crisis.
For her part, the actress has been DIY-ing face shields for front-line healthcare workers who are in close contact with COVID-19 infected patients.
These transparent masks—which fully cover the face—will protect health workers from droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Unfortunately, many hospitals are facing a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPEs.) However, unlike protective (PPE) suits, goggles, and N95 masks, anyone can improvise these face shields at home. "Napaka daling gawin. Kailangan niyo lang ng foam, acetate, garter, old folder, puncher, and ruler," says Judy Ann in a video she posted on Instagram.
"Ako po, nagboluntaryo lang ako," shares the actress, who joined Face Shields for Frontliners, a group that "aims to release 1,000 to 5,000 face shields on a weekly basis," according to their Instagram page.
"Mas marami tayo kesa sa mga frontliners natin out there. Puwede natin silang tulungan. Kung magkakasama natin silang tulungan, mas marami tayong magagawa. Mas madami po tayong mabibigyan ng face shield."
The face shields are currently being distributed to hospitals and other medical centers in Muntinlupa City.
Face Shields for Frontliners hopes to help more affected areas in the country. You can learn more about the program here!
