Jollibee might be going to Broadway—literally.
According to The Real Deal and New York Business Journal, which report on real estate and business news in New York City, Jollibee has signed a lease for a 7,127-square-foot store at 1500 Broadway, which is right along Times Square. The leased lot is reportedly two floors with the first being over 3,000 square feet and the second floor being over 4,000 square feet.
If all goes well, then Jollibee’s Times Square branch will be the fast food chain’s flagship in New York City.
Jollibee already has two stores in the Big Apple—one at Eighth Avenue in Manhattan and another at Roosevelt Avenue in Queens. Both of which opened to huge crowds, with many die-hard Jollibee followers waiting in line for hours for each store's grand opening.
The homegrown Filipino fast food brand has over 1,400 stores in the Philippines alone, and over 240 stores internationally. It currently operates 62 stores in North America, with 48 in the U.S. and only two in New York, but it’s already planning to open 28 new stores in North America in 2021. No word yet on when the Times Square branch will open, but we've reached out for more details.
Jollibee Foods Corp., the conglomerate that operates Jollibee, runs over 5,800 stores across 34 countries and plans to aggressively expand its international network by adding over 450 stores to its growing network, which includes brands like Jollibee, Chowking, Mang Inasal, Smashburger, and many more.
Jollibee might not be as big as competitors like McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A are over in the States, but it won’t be long before the rest of the world discovers arguably Asia’s best fried chicken.
