Jane de Leon, our generation's Darna, has found her match. In a livestream on ABS-CBN Entertainment's YouTube channel earlier today, Janella Salvador was officially announced to play the villainous Valentina in the much-anticipated TV Series remake.
In a serpentine green dress, blonde-highlighted brown locks, and a wickedly dark red lip, Janella was formally introduced as the nemesis of the iconic Filipino superhero. She follows the footsteps of past Valentinas such as Pilita Corrales and Alessandra de Rossi.
This will be Janella's comeback project to acting after her pregnancy with her firstborn Jude, her son with fellow young actor Markus Paterson. The series is notably packed with fresh talents aside from Jane and Janella; it'll also feature Joshua Garcia and Joj Agpangan, to name a few, in supporting roles.
Aside from them, Iza Calzado is also on board as the original Darna who will pass on the iconic white stone to Jane. The series, directed by Chito S. Rono, is slated to premiere in 2022 through TFC, A2Z and the Kapamilya channel.
