It’s no secret that Janella Salvador went above and beyond for her role as “Valentina” in the 2022 adaptation of Mars Ravelo’s Darna. ICYDK, the actress changed her hairstyle, brought her pet snake to the show’s red carpet conference, and just recently, she stunned us all with a photoshoot recreating an artwork inspired by her iconic character.

The 24-year-old shared a series of photos in a sheer slip dress, posing with an albino snake on a luxurious sofa. She credited the artist she took inspiration from: Denver Balbaboco.

According to Denver, the portrait was inspired by “the glamour of the old Hollywood stars Marlene Dietrich and Elizabeth Taylor,” and was adapted from the 1991 and 1994 Darna films.
“She wears a slip dress and a turban, both created from sheer fabrics that erotically embrace her body's curves. Valentina also wears old Philippine jewelry called tamburin. Her native Batok tattoos represent the elements of a snake,” he explains his work.
“I have adapted the concepts of the Darna films of 1991 and 1994, where Pilar Pilapil's elite Valentina and Cherie Gil's televangelist Valentine harnessed the power and the charisma of the Snake; luring people into darkness and promising them false salvation from the horrors of the volcanic eruptions.”
