Instagram has finally heard our prayers! There's a new game-changing IG update, and it's something we've long been waiting for: the mute button.

While Instagram already allows its users to mute stories, being able to "unsee" someone's posts without unfollowing hasn't been made possible until recently. Fortunately, this new feature will finally allow you to curate which friends you want to keep seeing—or, more specifically, stop seeing—on your feed. The app also won't notify whoever you choose to mute, so feelings won't be hurt and real-life relationships won't be ruined.

To use the feature, simply tap the "…" menu found on the upper right corner of your friend's profile. "From there, you can choose whether to mute posts or mute stories from an account. You can also do so by pressing and holding on a story in your tray, or from a profile," according to Instagram.
Even after muting, you can still access their profile page and receive direct messages from the muted accounts. The only post notification you'll get from them is if they tag you on a post. Additionally, "you can always unmute an account."
Now, let's move on to the most important question: Who to mute first?
