Good news to all shoppers out there! Import goods worth under P10000 are exempted from tariff and taxes starting October 5.
According to Customs Administrative Order (CAO) 02-2016, Bureau of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon said that the order covers imported goods with de minimis value. "De minimis" pertains to the value of goods that are exempted from taxes.

The CAO will implement Section 423 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act that states “no duties and taxes shall be collected on goods with a freight on board or free carrier value of P10,000 or below.”
This upgrades the decades old provision of P10 de minimis threshold.
However, as mandated by the National Internal Revenue Code, imported wine, tobacco, and other spirits within the de minimis value are still subjected to other taxes.
