The metro has been experiencing record-high temperatures in the past days. Too bad we all can't go out to the beach or rent a pool place to cool down. We also must not turn the air conditioner on 24/7 because the electricity bill would skyrocket. At times like these, we'll need to tighten the belt as much as we can, so to speak.
That said, one thing that can easily help you beat the heat is ice cream! Even during quarantine, some stores deliver for special occasions and for simply needing a refreshing, cold treat!
In this heat, ice cream can melt fast. A lot of the stores that are open for service to send ice cream to you have their own delivery service. Others use third-party couriers, so time your pick-up right, so the ice cream doesn't arrive at your home all mushy. Then again, you can always re-freeze before having your scoops.
Here are the stores that are open to serve you scoops of delicious ice cream:
1. Merry Moo
Merry Moo's Thai Milk tea, Spanish Brea, Polvoron, and Bananarama ice cream flavors available for delivery via FoodPanda and GrabFood if you're near its New Manila, SM Megamall, and SM Aura branches. You can also order by sending a message on its Facebook page or via Viber (0917) 528-9590.
2. Mad Marks Creamery and Coffee
Before their steaks, Mad Marks once served only ice cream. If you miss their Half-Baked Madagascar or Javan Hot Chocolate ice cream, send them a message on Facebook (facebook.com/MadMarksCreameryandCoffee/) to order.
3. Manila Creamery
Manila Creamery's unique gelato flavors include the Mangga't Suman, Tinutong Na Kanin, Peach Pie, and Roasted Milk and Cookies. To order, just head to Manila Creamery's website. You need to place your order 10 to 12 days in advance.
4. Carmen's Best
Try Carmen's Best's Salted Caramel, Vietnamese Coffee, Coconut, and more ice cream flavors. To inquire about available flavors and order, send a message on its Facebook page (facebook.com/CarmensBest), Instagram (@carmensbest), or via (0917) 567-2378.
5. Arce Dairy
Arce Dairy's Selecta Drive Ice Cream Parlor is open from Mondays to Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for pick-up only. If that's not anywhere near you, you can order their flavors such as Mantecado, Avocado, Pistachios, Dark Chocolate, Buko Lechias, and more via Grocery MNL. Orders will be delivered the next day. 6. Papa Diddi's Handcrafted Ice Cream
Papa Diddi’s ice cream flavors such as Tres Leches, Dulce Gato, Kesong Puti, Kafa Kalinga, and more are available. They accept pick-up and deliveries and are open from Mondays to Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Order via Grab or send them a message on their Facebook (facebook.com/papadiddis).
7. Karabella Dairy
Try Karabella Dairy's Salted Egg Caramel, Tablea Chocolate, and more! They are available for delivery via Lalamove. You can also contact (0917) 190-5795 and (0917) 535-0409 for orders, or send a message on Facebook (facebook.com/KarabellaDairy) or Instagram (@karabelladairy).
8. Fruits in Ice Cream (FIC)
If you're in Quezon City and San Juan, you can have your FIC fix via Karton.ph. They have their strawberry and Cookies 'n Cream goodness ready to be delivered. You can also order by contacting select branches via Viber. (Find here the list of open branches and their contact numbers).
9. Vito Gelato
You can have tubs of Vito Gelato delivered to your home via Foodpanda or contact (02) 8838 -5613. If you're not in Makati, you can have your ice cream picked up between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. via Grab or Lalamove.
If you're in the Cavite area, You can have Fiorgelato's pure Italian ice cream delivered. Call (046) 527 7934. Its Burgos Avenue branch is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for takeout and delivery only.
11-14. Selecta, Dairy Queen, Baskin Robbins, Wildflour's Farmacy
Selecta is also available on GrabFood. Some Dairy Queen branches are open, and they can be delivered to you via GrabFood and FoodPanda. Baskin Robbins delivers from its Bonifacio High Street Branch via GrabFood and Foodpanda. Wildflour's Farmacy is also available on Foodpanda.
