There was a time when a case’s only job was to protect your phone from scratches or the occasional drop. But for tech-savvy stylistas, even tech accessories are part of the outfit equation. Think of them as mini canvases—ones that say just as much about you as your choice of bag or sunglasses.

And now, with Heart Evangelista’s latest collaboration with Casetify, those canvases have come to life. In this interview with Preview, the Filipina artist, actress, and fashion personality walks us through her collaboration with the global tech accessories brand—a collection that reimagines her paintings as functional, everyday accessories.

For Heart Evangelista, phone cases aren’t just for function—they’re a form of self-expression. In her latest collaboration, Heart merges her signature artistry with day-to-day practicality. “Art has been very special to me because of the way it lets me express myself so openly to the world,” she shares in a statement. “What people don’t know is that my artworks are the diary to my soul. And when people wear it, as a phone case for example, it’s like they have a piece of my heart with them.”

Heart’s involvement went far beyond lending her name. According to the style icon, she personally selected each design in the Casetify collection. “The inspirations are actually all of my artworks from the past and the ones that I recently created. It feels so special because I truly feel like I gave birth to them,” she tells Preview. “I was very OC on which ones [would get chosen]. First, the meaning behind the paintings, but also the vibe. I wanted them to be something that you could definitely stare at because you’re gonna stare at your phone the whole day.”
This attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the line. Priced at P1,290 to P5,390 and available in a variety of devices–including iPhone, Samsung S and Z series, Google Pixel models, and select tech accessories like laptop and tablet cases—the collection is designed for everyday use, adorned with Heart’s signature visual language.

When asked if she treats her phone case like part of her outfit, Heart doesn’t hesitate, saying that she switches cases like she changes her jacket or lipstick. According to her, coordinating accessories is second nature. “Each outfit that I own would probably be something that I would wear 10 years from now. And so it’s the same with coordinating [your phone case with] what you wear. Not basic, but definitely a splash of color would do the trick.”
She also emphasizes how cases can affect one’s mood and creative environment. “As a content creator, I want to be surrounded by things [that inspire me]. It's like your environment—your home, your office,” she explains. “It’s the same with the kind of phone case or laptop case that you're using. Flat lays are always better with a nice phone case, and a laptop case can really make a difference.”

Alexandra
The Alexandra case, featuring an artwork dubbed after fellow actress Alessandra de Rossi, captures the multicolored whimsy of one of Heart’s earliest and most emotionally resonant works—a vibrant 2014 painting filled with flowing auburn hair, colorful scales, and dreamlike abstract patterns.

Heart explains, “This one is very meaningful. A little trivia, I named her Alexandra because of Alessandra de Rossi. She always said that she was a mermaid.” With its warm reds, golds, and jewel-toned blues, the piece radiates a romantic, youthful energy. “I was in a different mindset... I was a young girl, and so I love this because it’s very lively.”

Fashion Week
The Fashion Week case highlights one of Heart’s most detailed and time-consuming paintings, a portrait of diverse women inspired by the street style she’s observed during global fashion weeks. “This was inspired by all of the women I would see in Fashion Week,” she says. “It took me forever… I think this would be one of the longest paintings I’ve ever had to create.”

Rather than focusing on a single muse, Heart drew from the everyday elegance of women simply being themselves. “If there’s a specific person that inspires me when it comes to fashion, it would be every single woman that I would see just walking around.” This piece, she adds, is her favorite.

Incandescent
The Incandescent case features a soft, introspective portrait surrounded by delicate florals and flowing green tones. Created during the pandemic, the artwork reflects a more mature and grounded version of the artist.

With its muted palette and calm expression, the piece marks a shift in her creative energy. “I’ve definitely matured,” she says. “Not that I’ve toned down, but I guess I’m in a really calm state of mind.”

Reflections
The Reflections case spotlights one of Heart’s most meaningful works—an ethereal composition of nude female forms rendered in soft oranges and pale pastels. The piece also reflects an introspective period in her life, which even led to her one of her largest investments. “This was actually an artwork that I created for my very first NFT [non-fungible token],” Heart shares. “It was the most expensive painting I’ve ever sold… I was able to buy my apartment in Paris because of this painting.”
