It's been nine years since the final movie in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, graced our screens and capped off a decade's worth of HP films. Though there's no shortage of ways you can still enjoy J.K. Rowling's magical universe—from spin-off movies to video games to theme parks—there's also no quelling the unending thirst of Potterheads for anything related to their beloved fictional series. If you love collecting Harry Potter merch and visiting Potter-centric spots around the world, here's another one to add to your bucket list: the first ever Harry Potter flagship store is set to open in New York City this 2020!
The Harry Potter New York store will house the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts products in the world all under one roof. It's set to open some time between June and September (summertime in NYC). According to the official Wizarding World website, fans will be able to look forward to lots of cool trinkets and merch inspired by the film. Die-hard Potterheads will recognize cool products pulled straight from the books and films such as Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans and personalized Hogwarts-style robes as well as other cool collectibles. Sarah Roots, Warner Brothers' Senior Vice President for Worldwide Tours and Retail, notes that the store will not just be a place for shopping, but also an experiential destination that fans everywhere will want to visit. "Enthusiasts can engage with interactive experiences and numerous photo opportunities as they step into the magic," Roots says.
We're still waiting for the final building to be revealed, but for now, check out the concept design of the store:
