Pink grass gardens have been all the rage in South Korea as of late, and we’re not at all surprised. Local or not, who wouldn’t want to dally around in a field of blush clouds? Not only is one undeniably Instagram-worthy, the sight itself is already a surreal view all on its own.
Named pink muhly grass, the trending plant is actually native to parts of the United States. It only found purchase on Korean soil in 2014 when a restaurant, a church, and an eco-park on Jeju Island planted the grass to attract more tourists; a plan that unexpectedly bore fruit in more ways than one.
Soon enough, its widespread popularity in Korea led to the blossoming of more than thirty pink muhly gardens across the country. Now, if your future SK itinerary is centered around Seoul, don’t fret, because the metropolis happens to be home to a similar pink garden, as well, located in Haneul Park.

What you need to know about Haneul Park:
Haneul Park is situated within Work Cup Park, which was built in 2002 in commemoration of the 17th FIFA World Cup. Once a damaging landfill, the 857-acre land is now a refreshing tourist destination consisting of five parks, one of them being Haneul. FYI, haneul translates to “sky” in English, an apt name for the park as it sits on Work Cup Park’s highest point.
Fun fact: a number of K-dramas have filmed scenes at Haneul. The list includes Go Back Couple (2017), My Shy Boss (2017), and Another Miss Oh (2016), among others.
To reach its famed pink garden, visitors will have to climb a wooden stairway made up of 291 steps. Of course, if you’re not up for the exercise, you can always ride an electric tram from the park’s entrance. Before anything else, though, don’t forget to time your trip as the pink muhly grass only starts to bloom from September all throughout October.

Apart from the aforementioned attraction, Haneul Park also boasts of a stunning silver grass field that’s just as photo-worthy.
