But if you just want a respite from the busy week, this province that's just a couple of hours away from Manila also offers interesting accommodations that you can book.

"I think we are one of the few boutique hotels in the Philippines that really focus on design and sustainability with reclaimed materials in a modern, homey way. It has a private resort/villa [vibe] in the middle of the city of San Fernando," owner and Swedish interior and furniture designer Andreas Lundin said in an online exchange with SPOT.ph.

"As a Swedish designer who loves to travel, I collect inspiration from many places but since I fell in love with Philippine culture, I really wanted to use only Filipino materials and decor as an homage to the country," Lundin adds.

They operate at 50% capacity with the classic room at P2,800 for two, deluxe room at P3,800 for two, and family room for P4,500 for four—all with breakfast included. You can also book the whole hotel for P13,900 if you want to bring a group of 10.

Hamanda Hotel promotes sustainability, using only organic soap, shampoo, and conditioner from Ritual.ph and refillable water jar. Some areas, like the bar and coffee shop as well as the other restaurant Mpacho are still closed, but guests can already enjoy the small pool with a lounge at the back and, of course, SOUQ Restaurant.

Hamanda Hotel at SOUQ is at Lazatin Boulevard, San Fernando, Pampanga. Room rates start at P2,800. For more information, visit Hamanda Hotel's website.
