You've never had pancakes like this before!

If you travel to Japan every year, you’d know that the Japanese have an obsession with sweets just like their love for their traditional savory dishes. One of the dessert trends that have taken Japan by storm over the past few years are fluffy pancakes! Jiggly and marshmallow-looking, this filling hotcake tastes as good as it looks, and Gram Café & Pancakes is one of the best places to get it when you touchdown in Tokyo. Luckily, now you don’t need to fly all the way there to try it!

Gram Café & Pancakes recently opened in SM Mega Fashion Hall and I had the chance to try some of their signature hotcake dishes. I dined at Gram last year in Fukuoka, Japan and I really did enjoy that melt-in-your mouth kind of texture and subtle "eggy" sweetness to it. So I was excited to find out if the quality was the same even here in Manila.

Gram's menu is also comprised of bread dishes other than pancakes, like sandwiches and french toast. The price ranges from P300 to P400 for any of their plates.

I’m happy to say that the local franchise did not disappoint. The servings were very similar and even the price point is not far off when converted to yen. Not to mention, even the side salad tasted similar to what I had in Japan.

The bacon and scrambled egg pancakes were a treat! The slabs were thick and juicy, while the eggs were soft and quite runny.

The chilibeans and sausage might be the heaviest savory meal in the menu. If you're a fan of spicy food, you'd definitely enjoy this.

Gram's french toast might actually be my favorite item on their menu. The bread is so soaked in flavor and tastes perfect with the vanilla ice cream and lightly whipped cream.

The tiramisu pancake is definitely worth sharing! The vanilla cream filling is not at all too sweet, while the pancakes may look small, they're incredibly filling.

The premium pancake is what they're known for and it's still really good in Manila! It’s an absolute must-try when you decide to drop by.

The pancake that's worth the 20 to 30 minutes wait! We're sure you'd rather not share this with your friends!

Heed our advice and come early! Only 90 plates of these fluffy cakes are served daily (30 plates per time slot) and only during these times: 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 6 p.m.. Once the 90th plate is served, you’ll have to come back the next day to try this IG-worthy dessert.

Gram Pancakes is located on the 3rd floor of SM Mega Fashion Hall.
