Intimate is the name of the game in the new normal. For couples tying the knot in the near future, that means a smaller guest list and a considerably tamed setup, compared to the grandiose fetes the wedding industry was once known for. That said, much like displays of affection, small doesn’t have to mean less or boring. In fact, the most intimate of gatherings might just be the most special; and if you feel like you have to settle for the tepid drapings in your living room to host your modest party in, think again.
Many a wedding supplier has stepped up to handle the scaled down with the same finesse they would any normal event pre-pandemic. The team at Ginger Event Styling has particularly honed its hand at providing couples with the aesthetic intimate nuptials of their dreams, with founder and creative director Ginger Gaddi at the helm.
If the styling company’s name is in any way familiar to you, then you’ve most likely come across their IG handle, tagged under the posts of personalities like Rabiya Mateo, Sam Pinto, Chie Filomeno, Jessy Mendiola, and Issa and Yassi Pressman. Yep, they don’t just handle weddings, though it seems to be the type of event they’re distinctly excelling at right now, and with good reason.
Ginger—a nickname given to her by her sister—believes in finding the right balance when styling her events. “This can be executed through minimalism, maximalism or even in something in between,” she tells Preview. When it comes to working with her clients, she endeavors to both understand what they want and, at the same time, know exactly what’s best for them—resulting to an ideal marriage (pun intended) between elegance and indulgence, as evidenced by the wedding photos on the brand’s Instagram feed.
Below, we talk more to Ginger about her company’s humble beginnings, the specific look her events are known for, and why couples should book her brand for their own intimate affair.
Ginger Event Styling's exclusive interview with Preview:
What got you interested in the events industry and how did you start to build your brand?
"I was always the artsy and crafty kid in school. I gravitate towards creating things that make people around me happy. This made me realize I can turn my passion into a career. Branding didn’t happen overnight, it’s a process. I started my brand by applying what I learned from SOFA, understanding who my target market was and what I can do best with the resources I had."
How would you describe the overall feel and look of your events?
"Currently, my intimate wedding aesthetics [have a] light and airy feel, are modern minimalist, classic and timeless, or rustic and bohemian."
What's the most important thing couples should consider when it comes to planning intimate weddings?
"Skip what doesn’t matter and remember what does. I mean, an intimate wedding should remain loyal to the idea of having the closest and most trusted people in your life share an unforgettable moment, celebrated in the most meaningful way. Perhaps a bonus of having a smaller number of guests is that you can extend the celebrations or plan activities pre and post wedding."
Why should couples consider booking you and your team for their own intimate wedding?
"The last 2 years allowed me to gain more experience and learn endless creative ways of working with smaller spaces, exclusive locations and limited supplies while adhering to changing protocols. It made my team and I more versatile, resourceful and confident to plan and execute intimate weddings without sacrificing the aesthetics."
"I started doing event styling in my early 20s, and now I’m 27, putting me on the same age bracket of couples who are into intimate weddings. I easily relate and adapt to their style, ideas and provide suggestions that helps achieve the look and feel they want."
Apart from weddings, what other types of events do you usually handle?
"We’ve been lucky enough to work and style for music videos, set designs and production designs, social events, vlog sets, and even corporate events. We, as much as possible, remain flexible with the requirements and demands."
Anything else you want our readers to know?
"We, in our team, always envision working towards unconventional, out of the box, one of a kind, otherworldly, weird or never been done theme designs and set ups. We will always be available and open for your ideas and execute them in our best way!"
