What better motivation to watch a K-drama than by having an outstanding duo at its helm? For tvN’s Ghost Doctor, you’ve got Hallyu stars Rain and Kim Bum, two esteemed actors who contributed to the rise of the Korean wave. Plus, they’re undeniably easy on the eyes, too. That said, while the medical drama caught our attention with its seasoned leads, it’s safe to say that we easily breezed through all its 16 episodes thanks to its ensemble cast's gripping chemisty. Want to get to know them better?
Below, we listed down the cast of Ghost Doctor and where you've seen them before:
Jung Ji Hoon, better known as Rain, needs no introduction. He rose to prominence all over Asia for his role in the 2004 drama Full House, before going on to establish himself as a renowned soloist and entertainer. Ghost Doctor is his comeback drama after a three-year hiatus from the small screen, coming from his 2019 fantasy rom-com Welcome 2 Life. You can also find his work on dramas like Sketch, Come Back Mister, My Lovely Girl, and A Love to Kill. In 2017, he married fellow actor Kim Tae Hee and they currently have two children together.
Whether you’re a K-drama fan or not, anyone who loved watching TV in the late aughts is at least familiar with Kim Bum for his breakout performance in Boys Over Flowers as So Yi-jung, the rich playboy with a chip on his shoulder. Where some of his co-stars from the iconic series grew out of the limelight, Bum managed to thrive on his own by building his acting portfolio bit by bit. Outside of BOF, he’s now best known for his roles in That Winter, The Wind Blows; Tale of the Nine Tailed; and Law School.
Uee, who plays the genius neurosurgeon Jang Se-jin, debuted in the industry as a K-pop idol with the girl group After School. She spent eight years with them before leaving the group and her agency, Pledis Entertainment, in 2017 to focus on her acting career. Some of her acting credits include Queen Seondeok, Hogu’s Love, High Society, Marriage Contract, My One and Only, and Ojakgyo Family. The latter series won her a Baeksang Arts Award for Best New TV Actress back in 2011.
Son Na Eun
Yet another idol turned actress, Son Na Eun rose to fame as a member of Apink. A year after debuting with her group, she took a shot at acting with a supporting role in the historical drama The Great Seer. Na Eun showed promise in the field and went on to juggle both pursuits, appearing in shows like Second 20s, Cinderella with Four Knights, and The Most Beautiful Goodbye. She landed her first main role in 2020 with Dinner Mate, a romance drama about two individuals who fall in love over a series of dinner dates.
Sung Dong Il
Veteran actor Sung Dong Il is a well-respected talent in Korea for his impeccable comedic timing. He has both a prolific career on the small and big screen, but K-drama fans might know him best as one of the dads in the beloved Reply series. Aside from Ghost Doctor, you can also find him in other familiar shows like Jirisan, Prion Playbook, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and Ms. Hammurabi. As for his silver screen credits, Dong Il has starred in 200 Pounds Beauty, Miss Granny, and Midnight Runners, alongside Park Seo Joon and Kang Ha Neul.
Tae In Ho
Having debuted as an actor in 2002, Tae In Ho, a.k.a. the show’s antagonist, has over 50 movies and K-dramas to his name. Among the hit shows he’s been on include Descendants of the Sun, Misaeng: Incomplete Life, Sisyphus: The Myth, and The King: Eternal Monarch as Chairman Choe Min-hwan. He plays Han Seung-won in Ghost Doctor, an executive director and Seung-tak’s unreliable older cousin.
Ko Sang Ho
His role on Ghost Doctor marks the second time Ko Sang Ho has played a professional in the medical field. You might recognize him as surgeon Yang Ho-joon in Dr. Romantic 2. Aside from this, he also had guest roles in Arthdal Chronicles and Vincenzo.
Ahn Tae Hwan
Before stepping into the shoes of doctor Kim Jae-won, Ahn Tae Hwan had supporting roles in K-dramas like Mystic Pop-Up Bar, The Penthouse: War in Life, and Dinner Mate. In 2018, he starred in the seven-episode web series Eat, Fight, and Live Together.
Kim Jae Yong
If you think the handsome Lee Seon-ho could pass for a K-pop idol, then you’re not far off. His actor, Kim Jae Yong, debuted as a member of HALO, a South Korean boy group under Histar Entertainment. The six-member group disbanded in 2019, allowing Jae Yong to focus on his acting career. Prior to Ghost Doctor, he’s had bit parts in My First First Love, Love With Flaws, and The Miracle We Met.
